In Full Bloom
Flowers were in full bloom all across the runways as designers debuted their spring and summer collections. In New York, Ralph Lauren presented feminine floral frocks in Easter-egg hues, while Carolina Herrera splashed abstract flower prints all over the ladylike looks she sent sashaying down the catwalk.
Summer’s Fresh-Picked Floral Trend
Across the pond, Paris-based Nicolas Ghesquiere outfitted his space-age Balenciaga minidresses with pansy and hydrangea patterns, and, in Milan, Gucci’s Frida Giannini got graphic with sexy black-and-white floral cocktail dresses.
With fashion’s flower power in full effect, it’s only natural that this natural trend would blossom into the accessories world as well. From brooches to bracelets, some of summer’s most stunning pieces were inspired by the great outdoors.
One of my favorite picks of the season is a diamond and pink-sapphire ring from Beverley K (pictured left). I love how the white gold and diamond leaves dance around the ring, accented by delicate pink-sapphire flowers set in rose gold. It’s fresh and feminine, but not overly so, and adds a hint of sparkle to any look while remaining casual enough to be worn everyday.
Manak Couture’s Yogendra Sethi has crafted nature-inspired pieces that will please everyone from the girly girl to those who find flowers too frou-frou. 
For the former, a diamond-ribbon-wrapped bouquet of blooms fashioned from yellow and pink diamonds that can be worn as either a pendant or brooch is the perfect jewelry-box addition. And for the latter, a pair of tsavorite and gold leaf-shaped earrings is the perfect way to get in on the trend without getting too frilly.
Whether you prefer flowers, leaves, trees, vines, or branches, you’ll have a plethora of pieces to choose from when you want to get close to nature this summer. And what better season to celebrate nature’s beauty than the one when you’re outdoors the most?
