Surita Ghosh has been an artist all her life, painting, sketching and knowing that someday art would fulfill her life’s dreams. She was born and grew up in the San Francisco bay area of Northern California, where she immersed herself in the splendor of her surroundings: hiking, exploring and camping. She traveled to India many times, where she explored her Indian heritage and absorbed the tradition and beauty of the home of her ancestors.

Surita graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and took a job in the business world. But she soon realized that she would not accomplish her dreams within the corporate environment; she was compelled to find a purpose that would draw on her artistic vision. Fortunately, Surita discovered her passion in jewelry design; she launched her jewelry design company, which is named Enamorata, in 2001. Surita designs and creates her jewelry in her Half Moon Bay, California studio, where she also paints.

Surita, like all true artists, draws inspiration from everything around her: the color and radiance in nature, the exquisite architecture, paintings and sculpture of days gone by, and the beauty that can be found in daily tasks and accomplishments. In her travels, she endeavors to “blend in” and experience the different culture and customs of the area. Her jewelry mirrors her artistic vision; each handmade piece is uniquely created with painstaking attention to the smallest of details.

Her preferred metal to work with is 18 or 22 karat yellow gold, and she delights in vibrantly colored gemstones. Surita’s use of color is well recognized; she is known for her subtle, but breathtaking, gemstone color gradation skills. Her pieces reflect her tremendous expertise and quest for perfection. Shining, vibrant, glowing; ethereal but substantial. Influenced by ancient traditions yet thoroughly modern. Versatile works of art that will become tomorrow’s heirlooms.
