Spotlight: Heston Designs

david-heston-of-heston-designsCalifornia native, David Heston, is known for creating jewelry with a bold and contemporary look, catered to both men and women. David launched Heston Designs over 18 years ago in Los Angeles at a prestigious Neiman Marcus trunk show, and his jewelry can now be found all over the United States in high end boutiques, galleries and fine department stores.

David earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Arizona, and went on to finish a graduate degree at the Gemological Institute of America. He pushes himself to create pieces that flow and move with balance. “My work from all angles is designed for the discriminating,” he says. He likes to apply an architect’s approach when crafting his jewelry and his original works included a mix of sterling silver, 18k gold, rubber, diamonds, and colored stones.

David also comments that there was “always something inherently bold and masculine about my designs. And once I realized that men were interested in my work, I started to focus on pieces that guys would like.”

But he hasn’t left the women in the dark. A recent line included pieces with black rubber and pink sapphires, giving a glamorous, yet casual feel to women’s jewelry. “My women’s pieces are often pieces from my men’s range that I’ve scaled down and tweaked to be a little more soft, fluid and sensual.”

Eddie Murphy, Janet Jackson, John Lithgow, Diana Ross, and Rene Russo are just a few of the celebrities spotted wearing his designs. “I gather ideas from all works of art, both classical and modern, but my style is truly my own. I attempt to strike the perfect balance between bold and sculptural. And, like sculpture, jewelry has endless possibilities of shapes and forms.”

Heston continues to stay ahead of the trends with a new line of rubber, sterling silver, and diamonds that will please anyone – man and (Delamina) woman.
