Make A Statement in 2010
In 2009, Delamina hosted a contest looking for new ideas for our ‘Because’ ad campaign. It lasted over 6 months, with monthly entries selected for the final judging. And we were very impressed with the entries - all of them. Our panel of judges had a very difficult task in selecting the winner. With very strict evalutation criteria, our winner was not obvious until the very last moment.
But what a great statement it was! The winning entry, the winning reason to buy yourself jewelry: “Because you’ve always colored outside the lines” was submitted by San Jose, California native, Sarah Hanoka. She is pictured here with Steve Silver, my Delamina co-founder.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been named the winner in the contest and I am really looking forward to having some much need rest and relaxation time in a beautiful location,” stated Hanoka. “I love that Delamina is all about encouraging women to value and take care of themselves, and I was excited about the contest from the start because it was just a fun way to reflect on all of the amazing that we do everyday.”
The contest, which took place from March - August 2009, was widely promoted on the company’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and received hundreds of entries from around the country. Contestants were asked to write a statement of no more than 15 words beginning with the word ‘Because’, and answering the question - Why should a woman buy jewelry for herself? A finalist was selected each month by the judging panel for consideration as the Grand Prize winner - a package including free round-trip airfare for two, luxury accommodations at El Rincon Del Pedregal resort, $500 cash and their concept included in Delamina’s next ad campaign.
Sarah has agreed to write an article for us about her vacation experience.
