Michelle Obama and Sasha and Malia
Can you imagine playing dress up with Mom as she got ready for her night out with Dad on January 21, 2009 if your names are Sasha and Malia Obama? Michelle Obama entered the White House, bringing with her a signature style that has swept the nation. What the First Lady is wearing today is a marvelous distraction to those who are pressed by worries of the nation’s domestic, international and economic worries. Her ability to blend her special pieces with readily accessible classics from stores such as Banana Republic make her a trendsetter who will become a fashion icon over time.
Unlike their mother, Sasha and Malia have spent their entire lives in the spotlight of campaigns. They are a combination of “everyday kids” and “presidential family”. The two seem to be very close knit and a great support for each other. Both seem to be very comfortable in their own skin and push toward the normal. Sasha and Malia are reported to have been pretty miffed when the Obama infomercial cut in on their cartoon watching time.
It will be interesting to see how they grow up in the White House. Assuming that Obama is our president for eight years, Malia will be 18 and Sasha will be 15 when they leave. It has proven to be a tough to grow up in the public eye, but I expect that along with the difficulties, there will be many doors of opportunity opened for the girls. And imagine their impact on style and fashion for teenagers.
I hope Sasha and Malia have a great time playing dress up with their mom!
