Rubies on Fire
July brings hot heat and a fiery red gemstone – the precious ruby. Named the gemstone of the Sun, these sweltering red stones are a reminder of the warm, carefree months of summer.
Ruby is not only this month’s birthstone, but it is also the gemstone given to couples on their 15th and 40th anniversaries. Rubies are believed to have the power to open the heart, attract others and overcome fear. Sanskrit language referred to the ruby as “ratnaraj,” which means “King of Gemstones.” And there is nothing better than pairing a vivid red King of the Gems with white gold and diamonds.
With hardness in stone that only diamonds can compete with, rubies have been valued for their vivid color and durability for centuries, and today is no exception. Rubies continue to be one of those most sought after precious gemstones in the world.
Roman Krukowski, the designer behind the Epsilon line, has created a three stone classic ring with 18k gold, a 2.02 carat ruby center stone in a deep fuchsia red that is flanked by a pair of .60 carats of emerald cut diamonds. The Epsilon Jewelry Corporation has been in business for over 25 years and is known for creating classic white gold pieces.
The Epsilon line has also created omega style back post earrings with .88 rubies and .41ctw diamonds that are channel set in 14k white gold. These earrings are not only a must-have, but they would be the perfect addition alongside the ruby ring.
Picture the vibrantly sophisticated three stone ruby and diamond ring on your finger and the channel set diamond and bright ruby earrings framing your face as you sip pink champagne on a hot summer day, wearing a pastel colored, soft cotton dress without a care in the world.
And on those warm summer nights – this set of ruby and diamonds would accentuate a pure white satin strapless dress with a pair of intensely red heels – for a night of trouble out on the town.
