Some would say that Blythe Danner made the ultimate sacrifice. I prefer to think that she made the choice that worked for her and never looked back for a second. And the reason that I am so convinced of that is that her daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow, seems very content with the same decision.

Blythe gave up her Emmy award winning career when her children were young so that she could be home with them. She and Gwyneth have always had a close and supportive relationship with each other; with Gwyneth’s brother, Jake; and with Gwyneth’s father, Bruce Paltrow. Bruce was Blythe’s beloved husband of 32 years and also a key inspiration to Gwyneth and Jake, who is now involved in film production.

Not surprisingly, Gwyneth, an Oscar award winning actress has made the decision to curtail her acting career while her children are young. Which has put the media on the prowl, wondering if Gwyneth’s marriage is on the outs.

The duo have always been environmentally conscious. Blythe showed Gwyneth her voice when she was as young as three. And now, they are teaching Gwyneth’s children, Apple and Noah, how to compost. Blythe is also very active with efforts to fight oral cancer, the disease which took Bruce from her when he was only 58.

We all make decisions based on our individual circumstances. Blythe did so and moved boldly forward. And now, Gwyneth, with Blythe by her side, made a very similar decision. One that works for her.
