Bruce Willis and Demi Moore allowed the world a window into the life of Rumer and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah while carefully controlling their privacy. And no matter how meteoric the rise of Demi and Bruce, their daughters were always right in the thick of it. Even when Bruce and Demi called it quits and Demi married Ashton Kucher, they maintained a fine line between sharing their life and maintaining their boundaries.

Rumer made her big screen debut with a bit part in Demi’s light-hearted drama Now and Then followed by playing the role of Demi’s daughter in the 1996 exotic dancer drama Striptease. She also appeared as Bruce Willis’ kidnapped daughter in the emotion packed movie Hostage. She even presented at the Golden Globes with her mom. Recently she struck out on her own, acting in television and on the big screen. Even on the screen, the light-hearted, yet genuine closeness shared by Rumer and Demi is hard to miss.

Demi had a heartbreaking childhood. Her father abandoned her mother before she was born. Her alcoholic mother remarried a man who was unstable and abusive. Demi was an awkward teenager who required eye surgeries to correct her crossed eyes. However, all of this only strengthened her resolve to be a stand up parent and to be a supportive mom when her daughters hit the bumps in life.

During her teen-aged years Rumer went through a gawky stage and for a while seemed to lose her way. The paparazzi started to pair her with some of Hollywood’s less savory personalities. She started at USC but dropped out. Then, almost overnight, at age 20, she grew into her mother’s elegance and was named to 2008 People Magazine’s Most Beautiful People List. And even in those awkward days, Rumer had a strong sense of identity. Her parents always put her needs ahead of their own stardom or differences and it shows in the character that she has become!
