Estée Lauder and Aerin Lauder
Aerin Lauder is a chip off the grandmother block. Her influences are her mother, who she considers to be very elegant; and Estée, the “feminine businesswoman”.
While her grandmother always wore classic and elegant styles from Givenchy or Ungaro, Aerin’s staples are black pants or dresses from Tracy Feith, and Chloe and well-edited, ladylike finds from the likes of Calvin Klein, YSL and Gucci; a to-die-for shoe collection of Manalos; and her grandmother’s vintage Hermes Birkin bag!
Aerin, who could have married anyone, chose to marry her college sweetheart, Eric Zinterhoffer, a partner in a hedge fund. She could weekend anywhere and chooses a 1950s Greek Revival mansion that used to belong to Estée. She could choose the easy life, but instead is a working mom with two boys, entrenched in the family business.
Like her grandmother, who was the only woman named in the Time Magazine 1998 list of the 20 most influential business geniuses of the 20th century, Aerin is very much a force to be reckoned with.
Her birthright gave her a job at Estée Lauder but her hard work and sharp business sense moved her up from product marketing through the executive ranks. She is a senior vice president of marketing who is credited with much of the sharp new image of the Lauder brand. She is the public face of the company and a prominent New York socialite. Not bad for someone who is not yet 40!
