The August birthstone is peridot, a vibrant green gem that is found in shades that vary from lime green with a touch of yellow to a deep olive green.

I have a weakness for engagement rings. And by weakness, I mean that it’s not physically possible for me to walk by a jewelry store window without screeching to a halt when I see them on display, so I guess I’m putting it a bit mildly.

And while it certainly can be, the meaning behind a personal piece of jewelry doesn’t have to be that deep. Coco Chanel pinned a white camellia to her lapel simply because it was a flower she loved. This was the point where I said who cares? I like to wear tons of jewelry. And I receive compliments on my quirky style all the time. People are always coming up and touching my pendant, picking it up, flipping it around in their hands or jangling my heap of bracelets which sounds like a wind chime. I think it’s all in how you wear what you wear, not how much of it are you wearing.

There is nothing more exciting than donning an amazing ring! It just perks up your day. It has the added benefit that you can see it! Maybe that’s why big, bold rings are still the rage. The kind of rings that you wear out for cocktails. The ones that catch everyone’s attention as you try to balance that martini gracefully without spilling.
