I can imagine being married to and having three children with a loving man who goes off to war and comes back changed in a way that just doesn’t work, that involves violence - and needing to leave him. I can almost imagine the fear and sense of loss when he steals the children and flees the country - and having to fight long and hard to get them back.

Wanda Ferragamo and Fiamma and Giovanna

When Salvatore Ferragamo died of cancer in 1960, he left behind an Italian widow who had never worked a day in her life, and six children, aged 18 to two years old. Because Salvatore believed strongly that women should have equal access to business, he had brought his oldest child, Fiamma in to learn the family business.
