Finding Your Dream Diamond
We all know that when it comes to evaluating a diamond, the “four Cs” are important, but when it comes to buying one for yourself, consider the “four Is”!
Investment
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but this is truly a friend with benefits. Diamonds, unlike handbags, can last forever - and retain their value. They can be reset (or traded) to suit your changing taste over time. Understanding the “four Cs” going in to the purchase can help you protect your investment.
Introspection
After reviewing the four Cs, it’s time to rank them in order of what matters most to you. To some ladies, size matters. To others, shape or color is the ‘it’ factor. Clarity might be your own personal passion. There is no wrong answer, but it is important to know your preferred order so that you remain true to yourself when it comes to making tradeoffs.
Impression
The only person you need to impress in this whole process is you. Donning your new purchase should make you happy. A goofy little grin should slip out each time you catch a glimpse of yourself wearing your rock. When buying a diamond the ultimate question is: Do you love it?
Insurance
Remember to remove your diamond when performing strenuous activities. Diamonds last, but it is possible to shatter a diamond. Be sure to have your setting checked every year to avoid having your diamond escape from a loose setting. And don’t forget to update your insurance. You will likely need a rider for your special stone.
