Princess Cut through Trillion Cut

Feel like a princess in your Princess Cut or look like at trillionaire in your Trillion Cut. Get the scope and these cuts, and a bunch of terms in between…

Princess Cut

A square or sometimes rectangular-shaped modified brilliant-cut diamond. A modern classic (developed in the 70s) with clean lines. For the princess in you.

Prongs

The metal tip or bead that actually holds a stone in place. Traditionally stones are held by four or six prongs. A safety tip … always check your prongs regularly so you do not loose your precious gem! If you take your jewelry to a shop every now and then for a professional cleaning, they can check your prongs at the same time. And don’t forget to keep your insurance riders up to date.

Radiant Cut

A rectangular or square shaped diamond with step-cut and scissor-cut facets on the crown, and a brilliant-cut configuration on the pavilion.

Rhodium

A rare, white precious metal belonging to the platinum family which is used to plate other metals to give them a white platinum- like luster.

Satin Finish

Imagine silk and satin … this metal surface finishing technique produces a luminous semi-gloss finish.

Solitaire

A single diamond or stone set by itself in a mounting.

Table

The top surface of a cut diamond or gemstone.

Tiffany Setting

First introduced by Tiffany & Company in 1886, this diamond ring setting style holds a solitaire stone in four or six prongs on a thin band.

Torsade

A necklace style which is made up of several strands twisted together.

Trillion Cut

This triangular-shaped diamond cut is commonly used for side-stones.
