June 10, 2009: Because There’s a Bit of Princess in Every Woman
Imagine the shock of discovering you are really of royal descent, indeed a princess by more than state of mind. Sarah Culberson, adopted at the age of one by couple in West Virginia, had just this experience. On a quest to discover her birth parents, 28 year old Sarah found that her mother had died of cancer 12 years earlier, but that her father was alive and well and living in Sierra Leone where he was a tribal chieftan, making her a princess.
Sarah visited her father and was greeted by hundreds of singing villagers in emerald green dress, honoring her arrival. She discovered that though her father was royalty, he was struggling to rebuild the village after years of civil war. Many villagers had lost limbs, loved ones and livelihood, yet they were still optimistic, warm and welcoming. Sarah decided to create a non-profit organization to raise funds to rebuild the high school that was decimated in the war. She has since expanded her focus to other projects in the community.
Sarah Culberson, Delamina woman of the week, you truly are a princess.

“What’s it like to be a princess? “Have you ever owned a piece of jewelry that you wished you could wear everyday? When contemplating an important jewelry purchase, you should pick something that you love and that can be worn on several occasions with many different outfits.” Read more…
Engaged with Color
Our newest Bauble Babble by Amy Gurvitz is now available. She had me at the first sentence.
“I have a weakness for engagement rings. And by weakness, I mean that it’s not physically possible for me to walk by a jewelry store window without screeching to a halt when I see them on display, so I guess I’m putting it a bit mildly.” Read more…
