November 4, 2009: Because If You Believe You Can, You’re Halfway There
This past week was full of significant events. Some very dear friends celebrated the at first unexpected, and then very much anticipated, birth of their baby bundle of boy joy. My 5 foot tall, stubborn, spitfire of a grandmother celebrated her 99th birthday. And the 2009 Women’s Conference took place in Long Beach, California.
The mission of the Women’s Conference is “to inspire, empower and educate women to be architects of change in their own lives and the lives of others”. This year featured an amazing cast of inspirational speakers. The woman behind pulling together this wonderful gathering is Erin Mulcahy Stein. She has been the executive director of The Women’s Conference since 2006. She began her career as a litigator and then worked as a legal consultant while she raised her children. She serves on the board of several non-profit organizations and established the California State Alliance. Erin is a compassionate, energetic mother of 3 grown boys and is our Delamina woman of the week.
I missed attending the conference: too busy, too much work, too much travel – too many excuses. Next year, I hope to toast my grandmother’s 100th birthday, to celebrate Nicholas’ 1st birthday, and to attend the Women’s Conference.
