Melissa, where do I begin? I’ve only seen you in concert once, but your raspy voice moves the very core of me. I respect the way you know who you are and live your life with such definition.
You’ve never been one to exploit your celebrity, you didn’t set out to be a political figure, but you know that what you do has influence. You are devoted to your causes: defending the environment, finding a cure for breast cancer and advocating for gay rights.
Last week you sang your heart out in a pink plane to a passionate audience, forging a mile high club of a different order. Melissa Etheridge, thank you for sharing your fight and continuing to push. You are the Delamina woman of the week.

This week’s mother daughter pair from Laura Beth DeHority includes Breast Cancer survivor Betty Ford and her daughter Susan Ford Bales. “Betty Ford was a First Lady in her own class. Presidents have libraries with their names attached for their legacy. Betty Ford has a drug and alcohol treatment facility tying her name with the legacy of survivor.
