Take Care of your Natural Wonder

These few tricks can keep your pearls gorgeous for a lifetime…

Storing Your Pearls

Your pearls are a product of the seas and they thrive in an atmosphere with some moisture. They love humidity. Just a glass of water in your storage area can do the trick.

Pearls are soft, especially compared to gemstones. To keep your pearls from getting scratched by other hard jewelry, always store them separate from in a soft pouch or a jewelry case with a soft lining.

Wearing Your Pearls

Always avoid using perfume, hair spray or body lotion near your pearls as these can damage the surface luster. If you NEED to use one (or all) of these products at the same time as wearing your pearls (we admit, it could happen), then wipe down your pearls with a soft cloth after wearing. They will not only forgive you, they will thank you by lasting for ever.

In fact, wipe your pearls with a soft damp cloth after wearing them, no matter what. Even a couple of days later. And never steam clean or put your pearls in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Maintaining Your Pearls

Have your pearls restrung once a year on silk cord with knots to prevent loss if the string should break. Nylon string is an acceptable alternative.

Practice these few tips and tricks for lustrous, long lasting pearls.
