Clare Ullman draws inspiration from her travels to distant lands, from the natural manifestations of beauty in the world and from the strands of spirit, strength, and beauty that are woven in the stories of women all around the world.

While she is influenced by the houses of Dior, Chanel, and Givenchy, the vibrant colors and textures of the Asian and Indian temple cultures are also apparent in her wearable art creations. She combines South Sea and Tahitian pearls, precious and semi-precious gemstones from around the world and 18k or 22k gold pieces from Indonesia and India to reflect the beauty and soul of the feminine spirit.

She worked as a fashion consultant in San Francisco for over 10 years before finding her passion in creating jewelry for women. Clare sees jewelry as personal expression of beauty. She lives and works in Berkeley, California.

How would you categorize your jewelry designs in general?

Eclectic

Which celebrity do you most envision wearing your designs? And what would they be doing?

Uma Thurman attending an awards ceremony or a fundraiser for one of her many social/political causes.

What type of jewelry do you like to wear?

I like to wear pieces that are considered both casual and elegant such as a necklace made of 18k gold beads and sapphire briolets and also strands of tahitian pearls mixed with small gemstones.

What is your idea of a dream vacation?

Adventuring through Asia with family and friends, visiting temples and sharing in the local ritual celebrations, exploring the islands, and immersing ourselves in the rich, sensuous, traditions of each culture.

What article of jewelry do you think most enhances a woman's body? Why?

Earrings bring attention to the characteristics of a woman's face and eyes which can reflect her inner beauty.

What aspect of your jewelry is most reflective of you?

My designs mix gemstones and pearls in a way that reflects my eclectic sensibilities and regard for the beauty inherent in the earth and the sea.
